About
The Rock Full Gospel Baptist Church was originally founded by Elder Frederick L. Henderson to serve God's people through monthly Marriage Group Bible Study. The original couples participated in Bible Study geared towards preserving marriages. This concept continues today and has served many couples across the New Orleans area. The March 1, 2015 opening of the church for regular services came about as a result of Pastor Joseph Merrill of the New Kingdom MBC opening the doors of their ministry to allow The Rock FGBC to begin holding weekly services. We now hold two weekly services at 3611 St. Ferdinand St., New Orleans, LA 70116 - Sunday @10:45am and Pastoral Bible Study on Tuesdays @7:00pm.
To God be the Glory!
Under the direction of Reverend Matt Walker, New Kingdom MBC held its first service on October 21, 1973. Assembling at St. John Baptist MBC and Union Bethel Methodist Church for several years. After the church grew in membership and financially, several members located a property at 3032 Florida Ave. and accepted the challenge of refurbishing the building to make it our very own home.
On June 18, 1990, Reverend Joseph Merrill became the Pastor. He oversaw the purchase and building of our current location. Pastor Merrill worked diligently with the membership in fund raising and physical labor to build this facility at 3611 St. Ferdinand St. The building was dedicated for service on October 29, 1995.
New Kingdom continued to grow, overcoming the ravages of Hurricane Katrina with no flood insurance and displaced members. We continued to hold services every 2nd and 4th Sundays at Desire Street Ministries building while making repairs to the devastated home of New Kingdom. In August of 2007, the church reopened with a vision to move the church forward. In April 2014, Pastor Merrill asked Elder Frederick L. Henderson to come and assist with ministry duties. In July 2014, another segment was added to the existing building to extend the sanctuary with seating to accommodate up to 200 people. A kitchen/dining area and a new Pastor’s study withseveral personal amenities were included in this expansion. In 2015 Pastor Merrill invited Pastor Henderson and The Rock FGBC to begin holding services at the St, Ferdinand location. The inaugural service was held on March 1, 2015, at 12:30pm.
With over ninety percent of the church’s construction complete, Pastor Merrill was called home to glory.
In November 2015, Pastor Frederick L. Henderson was welcomed as the Interim Pastor of New Kingdom MBC and overwhelmingly elected to serve as Pastor in December 2016. The mission work provided to this community has flourished as Pastor Henderson and Lady Henderson often organize food and clothes drives for devastated areas. Weekly Pastoral Bible study as well as a weekly prayer line and a nightly online Bible study have become a staple of our Pastor’s ministry. Pastor Henderson has initiated Christian Education in the Church through Deacon, Minister and Elders training classes as well as preaching seminars offered to the public.
In May 2018 we combined the weekly services of New Kingdom MBC and The Rock FGBC. We now operate under the name Kingdom Rock Ministries where we are “One Church with Two Names” where we have “One Heart and Twice the Love”. We have formed a unique bond as we do the will of God. Our congregation is reaching higher to serve diligently and faithfully as others are called to aid our leaders in proclaiming the Gospel of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The legacy and vision of this ministry is firmly rooted in praising God and serving His people. It is through faith and the faithful that we have come this far under One God, as One Church, with One Spirit.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to be a God-centered, Word-based church, responding to the needs of God’s people. We endeavor through Loving, Teaching and Preaching, to serve God and this community with a Spirit of Excellence.
The Vision of the House
1. TO BE A CHURCH OF LOVE
Love is the greatest of the Christian virtues. (I Corinthians 13:13) Love is declared to be the chief test of Christian discipleship. John 13:34, 35: “A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this (love) shall all men know that ye are my disciples if ye have love one to another.” I John 3:14: “We (Born Again Christians) know that we have passed from death (Spiritual death) unto life because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.” The Christian must love God supremely and his neighbor as himself. Matthew 22: 37-39
2. COMMITTED AND CONSISTENT
Commitment: Pledge, promise, or duty regarded as a solemn responsibility. Be committed for the cause of Christ. Hebrews 10:25 “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together (as believers), as is the habit of some people; but admonishing (warning, urging and encouraging) one another: and all more faithfully (consistent), as ye see the day (the coming of Jesus) approaching. We are “one church with two names.” We urge you to attend a morning service (as we come together as a church family), Bible Study, Weekly Prayer Line, Prayer Service, and Deliverance Services. You should also avail yourself to the teaching ministries of the church; e.g. Sunday School, Institutes, and Revivals.
3. EVANGELIZES
The mission of the church is to evangelize the world. Matthew 28:19-20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing the, in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Amen. We gather to be edified. We scatter to evangelize. As Believers, we are commissioned by Jesus to be responsible for the souls of those who don’t know Him as Savior. We must witness that others may be saved. Acts 1:8, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
4. WE ARE FAMILY
Romans 12:5: “So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another (mutually dependent on one another with love and respect). Ephesians 4:16: “For because of Jesus the whole body (the church family, in all its various parts), closely joined and firmly knit together by, the joints and ligaments with which it is supplied, when each part (with power adapted to its need) is working properly (in all its functions), grows to full maturity, building itself up in love.”... no divisions...perfectly joined together...same mind...called unto the fellowship. (I Corinthians 1:9, 10)
5. SPIRIT OF EXCELLENCE
Excellence: Superior quality; outstanding ability or worth. Daniel 6:3, “Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him...” Isaiah 1:17
6. A TITHING CHURCH
Tithing is God’s way to open the windows of heaven for you and pour out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. (Malachi 3:10) The tithe is 10% of your income.
7. AN OBEDIENT CHURCH
We must obey those who are in authority. Hebrews 13:17, “Obey those who have rule over you, and submit yourselves. Obey your spiritual leaders and submit (yield to the power or authority of another) to them continually recognizing their authority over you. For they are constantly keeping watch over your souls and guarding your spiritual welfare as men who have to render an account.” Jesus was obedient. (Luke 2:51; Philippians 2:8) Colossians 3:22, “servants, obey in all things...fearing God.”
8. CHARACTER
Character: Personal qualities by which others judge or see you; Moral excellence. Your personality is what you show people, but your character is who you really are. We must live the life we talk about at church and away from church. “Let your light so shine that men will see your good works...” Matthew 5:16. Walk circumspectly in the world (live purposefully and worthily and accurately), not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent) people.
9. A SPIRIT-FILLED CHURCH
a. A spirit-filled church is a church that is led, guided, and directed by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Administrator of the Church. (He is in control.) I Corinthians 12: 4-7.
b. A spirit-filled church will be a church full of power. “You will receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you.” Acts 1:8
10. A CHURCH THAT WORSHIPS AND PRAISES
We must give God true worship. He is a Spirit; and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Our Father seeketh such to worship him. (John 4: 23-24) “Let the people praise Thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.” Psalms 67:3; 110:4
11. A PREACHING AND TEACHING CHURCH
Preaching is Proclaiming...
1. Preach the Word. II Timothy 4:2
2. Preach unto them Jesus. Acts 17:18
3. Preach the Word of God. Acts 13:15
Teaching is Explaining...
1. Go ye therefore and teach. Matthew 28:19
2. Teaching them to observe all things. Matthew 28:30
3. Jesus taught them. John 7:14
12. A CHURCH THAT FORGIVES
God wants us to forgive each other as He has forgiven us. Matthew 6:12, 24, 25 “When you stand praying forgive.” Mark 11:25 “Forgive and you shall be forgiven.” Luke 6:37
13. A PRAYING AND FASTING CHURCH
Through prayer and fasting, you will be able to flow in the anointing of God. (Mark 9:29) “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit...” Ephesians 6:18
14. A CHURCH OF FAITH
Faith is confidence, assurance and reliance on God. Trusting God for who He is. He is all we need Him to be. Without faith it is impossible to please God. When we come to Him we must believe that he is. (Hebrew 11:6) God expects believers to walk by faith, not by sight...II Corinthians 5:7.
15. A TIMELY CHURCH
“Let everything be done decently and in order.” I Corinthians 14:40. God expects His church to be orderly, disciplined, organized, strategic in planning, timely and seasonal.
16. A CHURCH THAT TAKES AUTHORITY OVER THE SPIRIT OF DISTRACTION
Distract – To cause to turn away one’s focus of attention; disturb, agitate. When the Holy Spirit is ministering through the minister, teacher, choir, soloist, etc., one’s focus should be on when the ministering of the Holy Spirit and not be distracted by crying babies, a disorderly witness,
loud outburst etc. (Col. 3:2, Heb. 2:1)
